During this week in ISM I have printed out my presentation invitations,
continued to work on my Final Product, went on a mentor visit, and started my
final product report. For my invitations I used the purple trails invitations
maker in order to make my invitation and printed them on resume paper for a
more professional appearance. Furthermore, I handed out my presentation
invitations out to my family, classmates, teachers, and my mentor. During this
week in class I started to finalize my ideas and research with my Final
Product. With my mentor helped finalize all my current progress for my Final
Product. During my mentor visit I was able to converse with the patients and
understand their own necessities at home while away from the doctor. For my
final product report I will mention the benefits of my Final Product and the
worthiness. Also, I reflected upon my real world application of my Final
Product and the experiences that helped me in coming up with this idea. Next
week I plan on finishing my Final Product and will continue to prepare for FPN
and the presentation speech. This week has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the
future.

Weekly Report (4/13-4/19)
During my week in ISM I have uploaded my last fifteen of my Final
Presentation Night speech, continued to work on my Final Product, and watched
and critiqued two other speeches posted in the learning hub. For the last
fifteen minutes of my presentation speech I talked about my original work,
final product, and explained the meaning to my ending quote. For my actual
presentation I will make sure to practice numerous times during that week,
limit my number of filler words significantly, and attempt to incorporate great
visuals. Also, I watched several videos of my peer’s presentation videos in
which I was able to learn many useful tips through watching good speeches. With
some individuals I was very impressed by their speeches, so I will make sure to
work hard on mine so that I can be just as accomplished as they have been with
their speeches. During class this week I was able to work on my Final Product
and essentially sum everything that I will need to do. I will spend time next
week working on my Final Product with my full intent. This week has been a wonderful week
and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (4/6-4/12)
During this week in ISM I have met with my mentor twice, completed a
Final Presentation Night speech outline, and recorded the very first fifteen
minutes of my speech. Also this week during class I created a draft of my invitations
that I plan to hand out to the individuals that I want to attend my presentation.
During my mentor visit I worked on the necessities that I would need for my
Final Product, which will be a health care application specifically for
cardiology that will help patients keep track of their medications and routines
needed to help lighten their cardiovascular and other problems. For my Final
Presentation Night Speech outline I created a brief outline which highlighted
the various different topics that I felt would be important to me in my ISM
journey this year. Having an outline for my speech completed will make it much
easier for me later on, especially when I recorded my first fifteen minutes of
my speech. The final thing I accomplished this week was create a draft of my presentations
invitations. To make my invitation draft I used an online invitation maker in
which I will print the designs onto a cardstock or resume making the invitation
seem more professional. This
week has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (3/30-4/5)
During this week in ISM I have updated my mentor log and continued to
work on my final presentation with my mentor. This week I visited my mentor
again this Tuesday and explained to him what I was planning to do for my final presentation.
The next time we meet up we plan on finalizing the entire process from the
start. For my final product I plan on doing a case study and compile some
research over the diets and exercises that an individual can be suggested to
take in order to better their cardiovascular health. This weekend I finished an
invitation prototype that I could possibly send to friends and family so that
they could attend my final presentation on May 16th. I also finished
an outline for the first part of my speech and I plan on practicing and
recording the first part of my speech sometime this week and submitting it
online. Although I haven’t accomplished anything major this week, I have
started to plan out for the future so that I can be prepared. I plan on meeting
my mentor again this Tuesday. This
week has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (3/23-3/29)
During this week in ISM I have completed a product progress assessment
and continued to work on my final product. I visited my mentor twice this week
since he was unable to come to the clinic once that week so all I was able to do
was talk with the nurse and the patients during that time. For my product
assessment I reflected upon the progress that I have made on my Final Product
and updated my product calendar as well. So far now, I feel that I am staying
relatively on track and should be able to finish my final product by the
beginning of the week of Final Presentation Night. During my mentor visit with
Dr. Kalidindi, I was able to meet more patients and understand their cardiovascular
problems. Half of the patients came only for their regular six month checkups
and the other half came in due to a medium to serious ranging problem. Most of
the patients needed to be get passed by Dr. Kalidindi in order for their other
surgeries to get through. For instance, one of the patients needed to get a knee
surgery and could only do so if the cardiologist allowed the patient to go
through for the surgery. An individual must usually pass through a cardiologist
in order to make sure there are not any unnecessary heart concerns. This week has been a wonderful week
and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (3/16-3/22)
During this week in ISM I have completed a research assessment and a
mentor visit assessment. Also, I fully updated my research portfolio and
reviewed all my previous assessments. For my research assessment I analyzed an
article that explained the function of the heart and the diets and exercises
that helps to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system. The article had peaked
my interest since I am still looking into potential ideas that I could use for
my Final Product. In particular I was pondering about methods in which an individual
could overcome his cardiovascular problems with daily exercises and practices that
he could do from his household. For my mentor visit assessment I reflected upon
my experiences at his clinic that Tuesday where I was able to view an
Echocardiogram and EKG test done on a patient. Viewing this from the nurse’s perspective
was beneficial to me as I understood the essentials on how to accomplish these
tests. During class, we reviewed and critiqued one another’s assessments. In
particular I found this activity to be very beneficial as I was able to correct
the small errors in my own assessments that I had been oblivious to yet were
found by my peers. This
week has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (3/2-3/15)
During this week in ISM I have fully updated my blog, prepared for my
upcoming mentor visit, and continued to research for final presentation night.
For my blog I formatted the way that all my research assessments were shown and
changed the link for the speech videos into hyperlinks so that the people who
want to see them can get to them much easier. Also, I fixed all the minor
flaws, such as the various fonts and font sizes to make my blog appear much
more professional than it already was. For my next mentor visit I plan on
asking my mentor whether I could visit him while he is at the hospital since I
have already understood how the clinical area appears. Also I plan on asking
him if he has any ideas on what I could do for my final product. So far, I am
still researching various articles in order to come up with a much better final
product than that that I have proposed. I aim to create a final product that
will be worthy of my time in ISM, so I am working to achieve that goal. This week has been a wonderful week
and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (2/23-3/1)
During this week in ISM I have continued on researching for my final
product. I have read a few articles that would help me start off my final
product, and I plan on taking about these articles with my mentor. However, I
am still unsure if I still want to stick with my initial final product
proposal. I feel that I could do a better final product than the one that I
hope to accomplish now, so I will talk with my mentor about it next week. From
the articles I learned how to make a basic application and learned the essentials
of how an individual can keep his cardiovascular health moderately well. From
these articles I read multiple case studies and learned the routines an
individual could take to improve their cardiovascular health. However, I feel
that I am heading in the wrong direction and feel that I could come up with a
much greater final product. Currently I am pondering on some more profound
ideas that could make me stand out in Final Presentation Night. I will continue
to research for my present final product proposal and wait till I can think of
a better idea. This week
has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (2/16-2/22)
During this week in ISM I have completed my second mentor visit
assessment, reflected on my original work speech, and continued to research for
my final product. For my second mentor visit assessment, I reflected on what I learned
from my first mentor visit which lasted two and a half hours. For this
assessment I reflected primarily over the second half of the mentor visit while
the first assessment reflected over the first half of the mentor visit. During
the second half of the mentor visit I learned that not only does a cardiologist
have to help his patients, but he also has to deal with the numerous amounts of
emails that he receives every day. I was also able to see a few more patients
and understand their own cardiovascular problems before leaving for school. This
week I also reflected on my speech and watched several videos of speeches from
people in my class and other classes. I felt that I learned much from watching
the other speeches and was able to appropriately reflect on my own faults from
my own speech. For my next speech I would need to speak at an appropriate pace
and practice much more since I felt that for my original work speech I hadn’t
practiced as much as I should have. This week has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish
more in the future.

Weekly Report (2/9-2/15)
During this week I ISM I have given my original work speech, met with my
mentor, and completed a final product proposal. For my original work speech
that I gave on Thursday, I shared with my class about my original work, my
overall experiences in ISM, and my smart goals that I hope to achieve. I felt
that my speech could have been much better since I could have practiced a tad
more. Compared to my last speech I improved in some ways and lacked in other
ways. I felt that if I should have rehearsed my speech in an empty room before
hand so that I could understand the pace and momentum of my speech better. I
hope to do much better and improve on my next speech. This week I also finished
my final product proposal. For my final product proposal, I plan on creating a
basic mobile application in which determine the activities individuals could do to assist their
current cardiovascular health. The application will keep track of your blood
pressure and cholesterol in order to make sure you heart will be kept in a good
shape. However, this was only a proposal so I might change my final product
later on. This week has been a wonderful week
and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (2/2-2/8)
During
this week in ISM I have completed my ninth research assessment, found a mentor,
and started working on my original work speech. For my eight research assessment
I reflected on the development of technology in which has produced pacemakers
with internet. The main manufacturers of
pacemakers and DCIs have started to market remote management devices. The
remote monitoring of implantable, wireless medical sensors is a constantly
advancing field which nevertheless still has clear shortcomings. The direct
connection of medical sensors to the Internet is the next natural step in this evolution, and will
enable doctors to obtain the information stored by the sensors at any moment
and from any device connected to the Internet. Also this week after contacting
many doctors, I have finally found a mentor in which I could shadow. I will
meet my mentor on Tuesday and discuss with him about the entire mentorship
process. Finally for my original work speech, which I will present on Thursday,
I will share with my peers about my original work, my experiences in ISM, and
my smart goals that I have set for myself. I completed an outline for my
original speech that I will work on during this next week. This week has been a wonderful week and I hope to
accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (1/26-2/1)
During this
week in ISM I have focused on and completed my original work which took a lot
of time and effort. For my original work I conducted a survey in order to whether
the amount of wealth an individual has affects his or her heart health. With
the data gathered I developed the idea of a mobile application that not only
takes into the account of an individual’s health but also his or her affluence
to produce suggestions of a series of exercises and diets that an individual
could potentially implement into his or her lifestyle to improve his or her
cardiovascular health. From the results from the survey found in the table I
was able to prove my initial hypothesis, which stated that individuals who are
highly affluent will have a worse cardiovascular health compared to those who
are moderately affluent since those individuals would have much more stress and
a less amount of leisure to properly take care of their heart health. For the
following week I plan to prepare for my original work speech and complete an
evidence of learning assessment. Also tomorrow I plan on having another
interview with a cardiologist who I can hopefully ask for a mentorship. This
week has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (1/19-1/25)
During this
week in ISM I have completed my eighth research assessment, contacted a few
cardiologists, and begun analyzing my original work survey data. For my eight
research assessment I analyzed an article about how revolutionary device has
been shown to significantly lower blood pressure among patients with uncontrolled
high blood pressure compared to those treated with usual drug measures. The
device developed my ROX Medical and named the Coupler is a paper clip sized
implant which is inserted between the artery and vein in the upper thigh. Also
this week I contacted a few cardiologists to plan to ask for a mentorship. One
of the cardiologists agreed for a mentorship but then declined the next day so
I needed to contact some more cardiologists quickly in case the final two
cardiologists I will ask decline for a mentorship. I already contacted three
cardiologists for a mentorship, two declined and one is pending. I have an
email ready for one more person to ask for a mentorship in case the present
cardiologist declines and I have emailed a few cardiologists to ask for a
research interview in case the final few cardiologists decline. Hopefully I
will find a mentor very soon so that I can began my tasks with him. This week
has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (1/12-1/18)
During this
week in ISM I have started on my original work, had a student teacher conference
with my teacher, and attempted to ask a cardiologist if he would like to become
my mentor. This week I made a survey for my original work that I will be sent
to ISM students today. The survey asked questions about your health, your diet,
the amount of time you exercise weekly, and the amount of time you spend on
electronic devices. My goal for my original work is to see if there is any correlation
between one’s lifestyle and affluence to one’s heart health. After I submit the
email to the ISM students today I will hopefully attain an ample amount of
surveys. This week I also had a conference with my teacher who explained to me
the tasks that I am doing well with and the tasks that I am lacking with. I
learned that I should attempt to limit my procrastination as I might not be
able to create amazing works to show. Lastly I attempted to meet up with a
cardiologist since I wanted to ask him to be my mentor. Since I drove after
school un-appointed there was no guarantee that the doctor would be able to
talk to me. Although I did not see the cardiologist I left a message with the
nice people at the front. Hopefully everything goes well. This week has been a
wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the future.

Weekly Report (1/5-1/11)
During this
week in ISM I have completed my seventh research assessment and made S.M.A.R.T.
goals for myself to accomplish. Through my research assessment I analyzed how the
Tendyne Transcatheter Mitral Valve system implantation has become
groundbreaking in the medical world as elderly patients can now become treated
for mitral regurgitation without the need for mitral valve surgery. The article
I researched over pertained with an elderly woman who had mitral regurgitation.
Her troubles due to the defect had been alleviated after mitral valve implantation,
an alternative to surgery which could have been detrimental upon her life.
Through my S.M.A.R.T goals I was able to ponder immensely about what I should
and what I want to do with my life in order to successfully reach my ambitions.
I categorized my goals into three sections so that I could better understand
what I should exactly follow and do. My short-term goals consist of me
finishing the year strong and learning much more about cardiology than ever
before. My mid-term goals consist of the steps that I should take during
college, such as getting a degree in biology for my undergraduate and
eventually go to an acknowledged medical school and attain a doctorate in medicine.
Lastly, my long-term goals consist of having a career in medicine and raising a
great family. Throughout the next week I am planning on getting a mentor since
I have contacted a reputable doctor and am waiting for his response. This week
has been a wonderful week and I hope to accomplish more in the future.
